Memories of a flat gone...
My old flat in the East Coast of Singapore
From a fire, this cluster of non-descript flats in Siglap rose to replace a group of attap huts.
They are unremarkable. Ordinary architecture, no art deco here. Ordinary people, similar to what you would find in most other Housing Board flats. Ordinary shops, some around for almost as long as the flats.
They are no longer around.
Except as memories.
The addresses of the four blocks - one, two, three, and four - East Coast Road will likely be taken by something more upmarket, but likely more unremarkable.
Progress we must?
